How to do the Shakeology Cleanse and Detox
On to the "old school" version of the Shakeology cleanse plan, if you're curious...
The Shakeology cleanse is limited to three days. During the cleanse, we recommend that you avoid overly strenuous workouts or intense exercise. Your body will be running a calorie defecit during this time and needs to focus on cleansing and recovery from toxins. Here's the low-down on the OLD style Shakeology cleanse (see above for important update on new version):
- Drink two to four liters of water per day. Pure, filtered water is best.
- One or two pieces of fruit. Apples are popular because of the fiber which helps keep you full and assists in cleansing.
- Two cups of unsweetened green tea, organic if possible. There are phytochemicals in the green tea which have been shown to possibly assist in fat burning along with caffeine, which is also considered a thermogenic and can supress hunger.
- Breakfast: Shakeology with an apple followed by green tea.
- Lunch: Shakeology with an apple or banana followed by green tea.
- Afternoon snack: Shakeology
- Dinner: You'll be ready for a meal, so enjoy a salad of mixed greens and veggies with a lean protein (fish or chicken breast) and a light dressing (balsamic vinegars are a fabulous low-calorie option).
Stay away from all dairy, nuts, fatty meats, soy products, and anything else not explicitly listed above during the detox. It will be a challenging three day period during the Shakeology cleanse - as all cleanse programs are - but your efforts will be rewarded!
